Triund Trek: A weekend adventure in the Dhauladhars!!

Triund is perched at an elevation of 10,632ft above sea level in the laps of the Dhauladhar ranges of the Himalayas. Triund is a 9km trek which starts from the famous hill station Mcleodganj. One can easily cover this trek in 4-5 hours. Galu Devi temple and Dharamkot village are the two starting points near Mcleodganj where you can easily reach by taxi.

The trek will take you through groves of rhododendrons, oaks, & deodar, exotic flora & fauna, lush meadows, rocky paths, along with the snow-capped mountains. Triund is an easy trek and can be covered by everyone. It can be tough for some beginners who are new to the trail. The trail has a few steep climbs in the end and sharp 22 curves. Triund is also known for its 22 tiring curves. It is advised to take adequate breaks at small eateries and keep yourself hydrated.

After reaching the Triund top, you will be amazed by the ravishing views of the Dhauladhars and the alluring Kangra valley. Witness the mesmerizing sunset from the top and lost in the serenity of the surroundings. Triund is accessible all round the year. Summers and winters both are best to visit Triund. April to June is best to witness the beauty and see the blossoms of lush meadows and forests. The weather remains pleasant with a shiny sun.  in the months of July & August, Triund receives heavy rain showers but the beauty you will see the green and blooming beauty of nature.  In winter months, from October to February, Triund turns into a paradise for trekkers. Experience snowfall with the majestic view of the Dhauladhars.

How to reach Triund?

Triund is a popular trek near Delhi. It is a perfect weekend getaway. There are a lot of transportation facilities available from Delhi to Dharamshala.

By Bus: Take a direct bus from ISBT, Kashmere Gate, Delhi to Mcleodganj which is 500km and take 10-12 hours to reach.

By Train: Pathankot is the nearest railhead to Mcleodganj. Take a direct train from Delhi and reach Dharamshala. Then take a bus or taxi to reach Mcleodganj.

By Air: The Gaggal or Kangra Airport is the nearest one to Triund. Delhi is well-connected to the Kangra airport. Take a bus or taxi to reach Mcleodganj.
